Mythic Eruption
Butler, PA 7/13/24
Prompted by Pippa Oona’s reflections, here is a time and event-specific verse commemorating the Providence of our dank and yet heroic times.
7/13/24, BUTLER, PA
Shown,
made known,
a mercy that's clear
in the turn of an ear,
a bullet's high whine
spitting grace like wine
and blood, just enough,
one death to rebuff.
A neck muscle moves;
it proves
some Hand preserving
a chieftain, mortal,
enlisted, serving
now, here.
But darker the portal
high, severe,
where we mourn and revere
his towering compadre
on greater love's roadway,
that other
hero, our brother,
compelled helter-skelter
to build them a shelter,
brave shield laid over
a daughter and mother --
who (past the wild uproar)
did himself discover
Heaven's door.

Such wonderful verse! Thank you for sharing this. I'm glad my reflections inspired you.
